Stone Table in Monroe

The best restaurant I've visited in the Charlotte area! The food was amazing as well as the service. Ordered the vegetarian "whimsy", which is a daily, spontaneous special from the chef. Amazing!!

We were here early on a Saturday afternoon. It's located in downtown Monroe and it's a shame there are so few places to eat downtown, we could only find two, Stone Table and a Thai place. We chose Stone Table because it was a neat little place and we liked the feel. I got two Shrimp Tacos that were awesome (see pic). Most of the seating is on the inside but there is one table outside that sits 4-6 people (nice day so we sat outside along the street/sidewalk) . I would recommend as the food was good and the staff came out at least three times to check on us and make sure the food was good and if we needed anything. Parking in downtown is easy as there is plenty of street parking.

Farm to table goodness. Chef is very creative and provides great service. It's worth a try.

Best shrimp tacos ever! My first time at this place. I've seen it many times but today decided to make it happen. Very friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Ridiculous looking cakes that I wanted to try so bad but I'm on a diet and got fries for a splurge before I saw the cakes!!! Next time I'll know better. If you get water or tea they have a lovely little bar with flavored simple syrups, fruit water and various other goodies. So awesome. I can't wait to go back. I need to find more excuses to visit Monroe just so I can eat at Stone Table!

Every single time i come here i have a unique and amazing experience. i am never disappointed with the 2$ tacos on Thursday. I would also recommend the whimsey. It's whatever the chef thinks will be good, and the awesome thing is, it's always good. Whether it's a small date with your partner, or a larger group with friends, you'll always have a good time. Also the atheistic is great.

A wonderful mix of casual and fine dining in downtown Monroe! Very cute place where you can drop in for lunch or make reservations for dinner (on the weekend). Staff is helpful and nice, and the menu prices are wonderful and reasonable for the absolute quality food you are getting. My advice would be to make weekend reservations if you want fine dining, or pop in for lunch if you want casual. Full menu available both times. The chefs here know what they are doing, and you get generous portions no matter what you get. Fun to bring a date or the whole family. I can't wait to come back!

They have an amazing chicken wrap. Bright colors with fresh vegetables and ingredients. The flavors pop with every bite and the service exceeded my expectations, the server's constantly check to make sure you're satisfied and your drink is full.

Food was really good. Nothing fancy though, very simple. Will go back.

I can not say enough how amazing the food was at Stone Table. The wait staff was great the chef came out and talk to us, a very pleasant experience over all. The avocado toast and cabbage salad was amazing! This was the best food I've had in a long time.

The chicken sandwich is the best thing you will ever put in your mouth! Seriously, why are you still reading this when you should be on your way to Stone Table right now!! It is such a quaint little place. The chef even brought our food out to us. Everything is very fresh! Please support our local family owned businesses.

So good!! We had a small private gathering at the Stone Table in honor of a dear man who had passed away. The proprietor and the staff were so attentive and kind. We had several dishes to choose from as well as beverages. Delicious! My husband and I had the roasted turkey wrap with a side of fresh berries. Love the unique interior! A place to chill, be treated like a valued friend and a place to be welcomed back to. Treat yourselves! We live in Maine, but will make it a point to go back.

Great food, farm-fresh ingredients, and the chef will come out and explain exactly how he preps the dish if asked. The whimsy is what my husband has gotten every time, and it is superb. It varies daily, as it is made "on a whim" with whatever ingredients the chef has in hand and allows him to be creative. There is a variable selection of juices, freshly made, and the sweet tea that we are all used to here in the south is made as sweet or unsweetened as desired - you add the simple syrup. Or the BlackBerry strawberry syrup. Or the ginger lemon. Whichever you prefer. I haven't had the desserts, or tried all of the entrees, but will be back to try more. Pictured is one of the whimsy creations (chicken, bacon, pepper, cheese quesadilla, with sweet young purple amaranth, among other ingredients), and a chicken salad sandwich, which sounds plain, but is divine. Highly recommended!

This was an AMAZING experience. Some of the most friendly staff I have ever experienced. All of the food is fresh and to die for. My whole family enjoyed their meals. The price you pay for the food is ABSOLUTELY worth the quality and quantity in which you get. I would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant to everyone and their families!!!!!!

We went to Stone Table after doing a quick search of Monroe for some dinner. The menu seemed decent so we decided to give it a go. We didn't notice that they "do things a bit differently on Friday's", as we were told when we arrived. The website doesn't really make this prominent. I looked at it again later and it's there but not easily found and as we discovered easily missed. I will say going expecting burgers and grilled cheeses and being told it's a limited 4 course meal is kinda jarring, especially to people who don't live in the area and are looking for a bite. However what I did see did look good. I might give them a shot next time I'm in the area.*edit* after just having read a response from the owner to another review mocking the reviewer for giving Bojangles a decent review, I can safely say I won't be back to this establishment. Woooooow.

Fabulous, creative, fresh food. Attentive service. by the entire staff, including the Chef/Owner himself! LUNCH: Any time I can work it in my schedule, I go for lunch and am always satisfied with amazing food, and warm, friendly, caring service. Often, I select the Chef's Special because Matt has magic and creativity in his talent and passion of food. CATERING: We've also chosen Stone Table to provide breakfast and lunch catering for more than 9 meals at business events. Again, the food is fantastic--every time. Matt and his staff are so warm, serving us with heart and class. Also, they take time for beautiful presentation and humble with taking care of us the entire time. I highly recommend Stone Table. They are taking risks, being creative, willing to adapt & pivot and we're lucky for it. Thank you, Matt and Stone Table crew.

Both dishes were delicious. The prices are very reasonable, especially for what you get. I chose the whimsy dish and it was amazing. Easily, this is one of my top favorite restaurants now. Check out the menu online ahead of time, as you order when you first get in. They have menus, but it's faster if you already know what you want. I strongly suggest choosing whimsy and letting the chef prepare something special!

Stone Table has got to be one of our favorite places to go in Monroe!!! Darnell provides phenomenal service, EVERYTIME, and truly makes you feel like family. Their menu is simple, yet provides something for everyone. Did I mention how fantastic the food is? Wow! - That was my comment after every bite on our last visit, "Wow!" I can't say enough about Stone Table. Going there has become a tradition since we moved to Monroe. We always leave happy and full!

Matthew and his team provided excellent service for a catered event for Belmont Abbey College. Matthew was incredibly helpful, suggesting items that worked within our budget. He went above and beyond making that the food was delicious and that everything was displayed beautifully. He and his staff were very professional, working with us to monitor students at the bar. Matthew clearly communicated our expectations about serving alcohol to his employees. He and his team are all good natured people who clearly have a passion for what they do. Our students are still raving about how delicious the food was weeks later!

I've heard it's really good, but catching the place open during its posted business hours is proving to be a real challenge. After three tries over the past month and a half to eat there, I think we're going to stop trying.

Delicious meal with elevated flavors and creative ingredients. One of the best meals I've had! Worth the drive. Dinner menu changes each week.

Great food and friendly staff! My mom and I got a fired egg & avacado sandwich and a bacon, egg, & cheese sandwich. Both were great! Cute little restaurant with a nice view of downtown Monroe. The employees were super nice and always made sure we were cared for, without being too pushy.

We were at Kefi Winery and Vineyards just down the road from them, and they recommended we go there for lunch. We both had the Chef's Whimsy, To our surprise, they served us two different ones - so we had double whimsey. It was really great food, well prepared, seasoned, and full of flavor. So happy with our meal. We'll be back!

My daughter and I visited this place for the first time and absolutely loved everything about it. We've lived in the Charlotte area since 1993 and eaten at every breakfast place you can think of. Stone table was by far, the best experience we have ever had. The biscuits are fantastic, The Raven juice was perfection. Everyone you encounter in this restaurant is friendly and there's just a great vibe going on. I highly recommend stopping in. I know we'll be going back again and again. What a gem located in Monroe.

Terrific tonight as usual. Food is imaginative and delicious. I really can't recommend this too much.

Breakfast was good. Eggs cooked exactly as requested. Get the large French press coffee and share... it makes about 5 cups of great coffee. I did not try the flavored coffee... AC was broken but it was morning and the temp was fine inside. We were told the AC would be fixed that day so don't worry about that. Grits were tasty and the toast was thick and browned perfectly. Will come back for dinner.

Sweet little spot. Interesting menu, daily specials, nice vibe and a nice view. People were nice, food was fresh and they take Apple Pay. Will be back for sure. I got a wrap and it came with homemade tortilla chips and some kind of artisan salt. I want to go back for the brisket and blueberries if it’s still on special.

Anyone reading this, open your mind, your heart and your mouth! This place has a whimsical feeling to it that makes you feel at east. The food creations are something only a true artist could think of. Your taste buds will taste flavors you never thought possible!

Southern food brought to a gourmet level. Great atmosphere for dinner or lunch with friends. Best to make reservations for evening meal. The menu is preset and is farm to table based on season availability. Be sure to order a ginger ale to clear the palette between courses.

This is, without a doubt, my favorite place to eat in the area. Not only that, but their staff is incredibly kind. I love everything about Stone Table.
